LOCATION

The Society headquarters is at the Stephenson Railway Museum, Middle Engine Lane, West Chirton, North Shields, NE29 8DX which is adjacent to the Silverlink Retail Park. This park is situated at the junction of the A19 & A1058 roads. Fingerposts on the roundabout junction show the final stages of the route.

 

BUS

Service R19        Daily: Northumberland Park, Cobalt Park, NT Railway, Silverlink, new link road, Percy Main, North Shields town centre and Ferry (connections to South Shields).

Service 75       Monday to Saturday: Newcastle Haymarket - Battle Hill – NT Railway - then anticlockwise round Norham Road - North Shields Centre - Tynemouth - Cullercoats - Whitley Bay - Monkseaton - New York – Cobalt Park (close to railway) then by outward route – Battle Hill – Newcastle.

Service 76        Monday to Saturday: Newcastle Haymarket – Battle Hill -  then clockwise round Cobalt Park (close to railway) - New York - Monkseaton - Whitley Bay - Cullercoats - Tynemouth - North Shields Centre - Norham Road - NTRailway then by outward route – Battle Hill - Newcastle.

Service 309     Daily: Blyth – Seaton Sluice – Whitley Bay – New York – Cobalt Park (close to railway) – Silverlink - Newcastle.

Service 337        Monday to Saturday: Wallsend - NTRailway – NT Hospital -Cullercoats -Whitley Bay. Sunday: Wallsend – NT Railway – NT Hospital.

TRAIN

Metro train from Central Railway station, Newcastle or other Metro stations to Percy Main, then North Tyneside Steam Railway train from Percy Main Village to the Museum, Middle Engine Lane (summer Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays only).

CAR

From the West or East - A1058 Coast Road and take the A19 slip road to roundabout*.

From the North or South - A19 road to just north of Tyne Tunnel and take the A1058 slip road to roundabout*.

*On the roundabout take the exit for ‘Silver Link Retail Park’ and follow brown route signs.
