| MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION 2007/8 |
The North Tyneside Steam Railway Association was formed in 1977 as a volunteer support organisation for the North Tyneside Railway at Middle Engine Lane, North Shields. We have spent many years restoring to full working order the locomotives "A No. 5", "Thomas Burt", "Consett No. 10", "Jackie Milburn" and "No 1". We own the goods guards van and have a carriage group restoring the coaches to good working order. This work is voluntary yet rewarding from the comradeship and fun it breeds. We occasionally purchase spares to assist with this restoration. We are also providing, again on a voluntary basis, train and operating staff to enable the steam railway to function. A policy of continuous crew and staff training is operated and volunteers for any of these posts are very welcome. None participating members are also warmly welcomed and membership includes several issues of our own magazine. Please join us and help to keep the railway alive.
